Coromandel is a decorative lacquer design developed in China that depicts figures or scenes etc. When we first started Landfair Furniture, one of our biggest sellers off the floor was unique Coromandel decorative trunks and boxes. They were end table height, perfect for a lamp and they could be used for storage. It was perfect for adding texture to a room. My deceased grandmother passed a smaller trunk down to my sister that was heavily laquered.(would be 70+ years old now) It was dark in color and had a picture on the top in a rather victorian theme. Ladies of the victorian era. This was covered in the laquer, but had a couple spots, which were letting go a bit. Very beautiful piece, but she called the work something besides Coromandel. I simply don't remember the term.
