This Is Stanley

Back in 2007 we hosted Stanley 101 and announced the introduction of  Stanley Young America lineWe said at the time "Young America easily adapts to (family) changes, and grows right along with your children. Imagine you can go from the changing station to toddler to teenager..."

Today, Stanley announced it is discontinuing the Young America line and will concentrate instead on the "'... profitable and growing Stanley brand." The company said it plans to honor orders of Young America products placed on or before April 28.

We thought at the time Young America was a great idea. We are sorry to see this part of their business cancelled. However, our respect for Stanley continues. With Stanley and your interior designer, we want to help you create your dream home with quality, stylish furniture that’s affordable. Stanley offers furniture in contemporary, transitional, traditional, and cottage styles and meets the needs of almost everyone.

The Las Vegas Review Journal featured an article about home design trends for 2014. Included in the article was Stanley Furniture and their Coastal Living Cottage collection which  features a palette of colors that draws inspiration from the varied landscapes of the coast. The sea, in all its many moods, plays a central role, as do the dunes, marsh grasses, shells, sun and boardwalks of America’s coasts.

"It’s acceptable inland, not just limited to the coast,” said Julie Smith Vincenti of Nine Muses Media.

Talk About Gorgeous!

One of our clients just ordered six of these great Bonaire Club chairs for his customer's breakfast area.
Did you notice the casters?

To quote Stanley:
To marry a classic's timeless style with a Caribbean twist might be flirting with genius. The Bonaire Club Chair exemplifies that notion with its update on the archetypal Windsor chair. An antique cobalt blue leather seat meets an airy and open framework; a nod to the islands and a curtsy to the Queen.
Nothing could be more perfect. They are in stock and ready to ship

Classic Counter Stool From Stanley

New from Stanley Furniture, available both in counter and bar stool:

Expect comfort from the gently-curved back of the Wood Counter Stool. While you're at it, prop those boots on the foot rest without worry. The kick plate protects your chair from scrapes and scratches.

Archipelago From Stanley

We love these new stools from Stanley Furniture, available both in counter and bar stool:

Woven materials says Caribbean, and our Tambu Counter Stool proudly expresses just how attractive natural fibers can be. A swivel seat makes it easy to flow with the breezes, and conversations, seaside or barside.

Forgive us for tooting our own horn, but an email like this just makes our day. This wonderful email came from interior designer Deborah Melville and said in part:
I talked to (my client) today and she said, "The furniture is stunning - way prettier in person." They love it! Job well done...thanks for all your help!
Deborah and her client were ecstatic over Stanley Furniture's European Farmhouse collection.  It's described as feeling as if it was gathered over a lifetime of travel and treasure finding. It is both old and new, allowing the collection to serve nearly any decorating style.

Below are pieces that Deborah Melville ordered for her client:

Stanley’s New Collection: Arrondissement

Stanley’s new collection is called Arrondissement, a French word that refers to different neighborhoods in Paris– NOT a Parisian collection, but a European lifestyle.  Look for terms in this collection like rustic charcoal, salted black, vintage neutral finish, lost wax hardware… terms that make me want to see more!

Ordered From Stanley: Winemaker's Tasting Table

As any good vintner knows, half the enjoyment of a given wine is in the ritual of its presentation. That's why in vineyards across the country, tasting tables like this one are carefully arranged in a secluded part of the winemaker's cask room, offering a select few the chance to heighten an already magical experience. And whether you use it for serving drinks, sharing cocktails or just for casual gatherings and entertaining, Stanley'sr Winemaker's Tasting Table is sure to bring the same level of import to the activities in your own home.

Carved to emulate a continuous disk of solid Dutch white cedar, the generous 42" top delivers an unexpected bit of drama to contemporary spaces. The stave-like lower supports recall the iron barrel bands used to support old oak casks, complete with vintage-look rivet rows on the base, center band and apron. Curved metal feet and hand-rubbed terrain finish complete the lost-in-time look.

Stanley Furniture's Coastal Living Resort won in the major collections category for designers Richard Schroeder, Denis Kissane and Gary Hokanson.

Relaxed Or Informal Dining

Stanley Furniture is releasing a 22-piece expansion of its Classic Portfolio line.  The dining line has entry level pricing in three styles: the industrial-influenced Artisan, the European-inspired Old World and the sleek Modern line.

Why? Stanley believes there is a void in the market for affordable fashion-forward everyday dining. Formal dining is a slow seller. Maybe because, as the previous post pointed out, home owner needs for formal dining are changing.  We are moving to smaller homes and the formal dining room is wasted space.  Maybe, it has to do also, with no bottom seen in casual dining pricing.

Stanley Furniture "... is focused on delivering really great finishes that require an artistic hand to apply; great classic styling that really feeds someone's creative sense and then trying to do it at a price that's attainable."

Stanley's Resort Coastal Living

Speaking of Stanley Furniture, one of the hottest looks right now is the collaboration of Coastal Living magazine and Stanley to produce the Resort look:

Notice the wavy textured metal X etegere in the bottom two pictures. It's a work of art!

Stanley's Plugged In Nightstand

Yesterday, we posted about a nightstand with a built in charger in a transitional style from C.F. Oakton.  Further investigation reveals Stanley has the Costa Del Sol Barcelona Stateroom Media Chest.
At first glance, it appears like a traditional European storage cabinet. But on closer inspection, you'll find a pair of matching cubbies towering behind the ornate molding on either side. Even the top drawer is a bit of tromped loeil--pull the antique flamed brass knob and you'll reveal a convenient drop down media tray complete with self-contained electrical outlet. Perfect for storing a DVD player, stashing a video game unit or just charging those everyday electronics.
