The Loveseat For Smaller Spaces
Apartment Therapy is trying to suggest there's a new sofa type out there for small space dwellers.
They write, "New Traditionalists Unite! Not every small space dweller is into modern lines or minimal, neutral textures. We're sure there are plenty of you living in pint size palaces who would like to embrace classic lines mixed with color, texture and pattern when it comes to your sofa style. Well, here you go - seven small but not-too-safe sofas to consider that all clock in at under 70 inches..."
In one place a picture of a small sofa is called a "sofette." That's is just another for a loveseat and we've had loveseats for years. Bernhardt and Bernhardt Interiors calls them Loveseats. Here are a few examples of loveseats:
All under 70 inches.

Trends: Headboards Lend A Romantic Look to Bedrooms
Sue Doerfler, The Republic at azcentral.com shares her reactions to April High Point Market in High Point, N.C.. She writes, "...furniture makers introduced collections that featured glamorous, fully upholstered beds and statement headboards."
In the article she mentions Bernhard's new London Calling Collection with these words, "Furniture maker Bernhardt's London Calling collection perhaps made one of the boldest statements with its vintage brass Kingston four-poster bed and matching side tables."
Here's what she's writing about:

Classic English style that mixes tradition with a bit of unexpected Carnaby panache enters the American vernacular today in Bernhardt Interiors—a permanent, eclectic collection totaling some 300 pieces of high design furniture.
Among 75 new case goods and occasional pieces, wood and metal forms and surfaces are dressed out in a razzle dazzle mashup of golds—shiny 70s brasses, scumbled gold-leafed woods, satiny jewel box cabinetry. The reflective golden metals appear both serious and playful — and will offer more visual interest to the rest of a homeowner’s decor.
Some 25 new upholstery pieces are shown in classic English types of covers. There are velvets, flaxes and linens, layered patterned cut cloths, and fabrics with a soft metal glow to them. A new color palette is composed of pomegranate, teal, spruce, greige, and... gold, basic black’s shiny cousin.
“London has always been recognized as a hotbed of really great style,” says Ron Fiore, Bernhardt creative director. “From the punk culture of the 70s to the 80s and even today, London is where we like to think eclecticism originated. We’re bringing that energetic, classic English suavity into our whole-world approach at Bernhardt.”

Walnut Is Back
Vicki Payne, host and producer of “For Your Home,” acknowledges something today that has been coming on for about two years: Walnut is back!
"Here’s the latest example of a trend bounce: Walnut was once the wood of choice for many woodworkers but fell out of favor with designers and decorators for the past 40 years. Now it’s back again, big-time."
Here's two Bernhardt's in a walnut finish:

What To Know Before You Buy A Sectional

Becky Dietrich, Interior Designer, and Houzz Contributor has written a fine and detailed article that just appeared in Forbes Magazine titled "What To Know Before You Buy A Sectional."
She concludes her article with this advice, "Don’t even consider sectional shopping without a meticulously drawn floor plan. The good news is that the right sectional will bring comfort, style and function to your room that few other furnishings can provide."

Sofa, Couch or What?
S.J.D., of Belleville posed this question to The Answer Man:
Q. Why do we have two very different names for a couch/sofa? When you look on craigslist, they are used interchangeably. Is there a difference?
Interesting article about the history of the name!
I have some further input on the question. My husband used to call the sofa a couch or davano until I corrected him Now he's pretty good at just using sofa for the multiple seat thing in the den or living room, usually taken by the dog.

Bernhardt Interiors - Gorgeous Chaises and Settees
While perusing interior designer Faith Sheridan's blog, I came across her post "Sit Back & Relax – Gorgeous Chaises and Settees." Sheridan writes
Marcourt Banquette:

Gramercy Left (and Right) Arm Chaise:
Kelsey Sectional:
Markham Chair
Is there anything more elegant than the chaise longue? Even the name evokes images of ancient Egyptian pharoahs being fanned and fed grapes! As a matter of fact, it is believed that the chaise longue (or long chair) originated in ancient Egypt as a combination daybed and chair. Her post led me to look at our offerings from Bernhardt Interiors. The reason we are showing these items is that they relate to the items of Faith Sheridan's examples.

Then I picked up the March 18th issue of Furniture Today and see this article: "Bright colors jazz up upholstery." I know it's not the best headline, but it tells us that "...people are so sick of what the big box promotional stores are offering-they want something that sets them apart."
Give me a call or email me to see what Bernhardt Interiors is offering.
Fab-ulous
Wow! Got the new fab introductions this week from Bernhardt Interiors. They have added more greys, stripes, golds, aquas, sumptuous textures and prints to their array. New colored leathers have appeared which "...makes me wanna Shout." They would look so good on a Cocktail Ottoman.
Introduce some of these fabrics and leathers into the palette that you are currently working with for the "Wow and Now" factor.

Bernhardt In Homes & Gardens
Kim Cook writing in Homes & Gardens focuses on the fall season and inspirations for interior designers. In the section Parisian Panache, she says, "Tufted furniture and mirrored, lacquered furnishings evoke the élan of a
turn-of-the-century French apartment, or maybe old Hollywood glamour.
She states that "Bernhardt (Interiors) has the low-profile Lotus coffee table, Balboa media console and Gustav dining table, all in lustrous polished steel.
Here are photos of those items:
Balboa Media Center, Metal frame in Polished Stainless Steel finish - W 78-5/8 | D 17-5/8 | H 19-7/8 in.
Gustav dining table with glass top and polished stainless steel metal base - Diam 54 | H 29-5/8 in.
with matching polished stainless chairs and upholstered slip seat with welt - W 22-1/2 | D 23-1/4 | H 35-3/4 in.

Home Furnishings Business writes that "Furniture brand Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams has rolled out its collection of home furnishings inspired by CBS show, "The Good Wife".
The collection - available in the US - was developed in collaboration with set decorator, Beth Kushnick , who is responsible for the designs seen on the series."
You know, the collection looks a lot like Bernhardt Interiors. Speaking of Bernhardt, Jennifer Guggenheim posted pictures on her Facebook page of her Laurelhurst client using our furniture from Bernhardt Interiors. That's the Beckett Sofa! Also available in a loveseat.

Bridget Otto, today calls our attention to an article by Courtney from A Thoughtful Place about slipper chairs.
Courtney shows a number of chairs and writes:
The chairs shown above are quoted with retail pricing. Remember you have a choice of Bernhardt Interiors fabrics or you can use your own fabrics. The website will even tell you how much fabric is needed.
One of my very favorite ways to infuse personality and pattern into a room is with a slipper chair. Without being a huge investment, they really open up the seating possibilities in a space. You can add texture and pattern without eating up too much real estate. We have some thoughts on the subject. If you would like a designer look and a selection of fine fabrics from Bernhardt Interiors, why not take a look a these Bernhardt Interiors slipper chairs:
